The Gate believes

Bible

We believe the Bible is the written Word of God and all 66 books of the Old and New Covenant were inspired by the Holy Spirit as written and without error in the original manuscipts.  The Bible is the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ and God's truth.  It is the final authoity in all matters of faith, practice and living.  2 Timothy 2:16-17   The Word is alive and we want it to impact our lives powerfully as the Living Word.

God

We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal, existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.         Deut 6:4; John 6:27; Acts 5:3,4; 1 John 5:20   Jesus promised He would never leave us and the promised Holy Spirit came and remains with us.  Our constant desire is, like Moses, that His presence will always be with us in our worship and every aspect of our lives.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God, eternally existing with the Father in glory.  He was manifest in the flesh, born of a virgin without sin and that He died on the cross for our sins.  His blood took away the sin of the world.  He was buried, rose from the dead and ascended bodily back into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of God the Father.  1 Tim. 3:16; John 1:1-14; 20:30-31; Luke 22:69; Romans 8:34; Col. 3:1; Psalm 101:1

We believe Jesus intends for the Kingdom to be on earth as it is in heaven and has commissioned His Church to occupy and extend His Kingdom.  We believe in the visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this planet to judge the world and to claim His Bride which is His Church.  Those who believe will enjoy eternal life in His presence while unbelievers will be punished and eternally separated from God.  1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Rev. 1:7; Matt 25:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-10; Revelations 20:11-15; John 14:1-3

Mankind

We believe that Adam was divinely created in the image of God.  We believe that sin entered the world through the first Adam.  We believe that all people are sinners, guilty before God, deserving of judgment and in need of a Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 3:19-26; 5:12-21 God is willing that none should perish but all should come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  2 Peter 3:9

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by the sovereign grace of God and includes Spirit, Soul and Body.  His suffering, the wounds and blood of Jesus paid the debt of sin in full.  We believe that salvation from sin, sickness, death and hell is by God's grace, based uopn faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is received by faith apart from any human performance or merit.  Isaiah 53; John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:1-10

Holy Spirit

We believe that Holy Spirit was sent by the Father to remain with us.  He convinces of sin, righteousness and judgment. He regenerates, seals, guides, directs and comforts all believers.  Holy Spirit brings revelation of Jesus Christ and brings to remembrance all He has said. John 14:16-18; Eph. 5:15-21

We believe that all people receive the indwelling Holy Spirit when they believe in Jesus Christ.  Believers may have ongoing experiences of filling or being baptized into and empowering evidenced by manifestation of spiritual gifts of Holy Spirit.  Luke 24:47; Acts 1:8; 2:4;         Acts 10:44-48;  1 Cor. 12:1-11

We believe in impartation of Holy Spirit empowerment and divine healing for spirit, soul and body based upon the work of Christ, through the prayer of faith, spoken blessing and laying on of hands.  1 Pet. 2:24; James 5:14-15; Psalm 103:1-5; Luke 4:40-41; Heb 6:2 1 Thess. 4:14

Body Life

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances of the Church that should be practiced regulary by all believers.              Matt. 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Mark 16:16; Luke 22:19-20;Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-10; 1 Cor. 11:24-26

We believe that believers should assemble together in local congregations, homes and other places for worship, prayer, edification, encouragement, service and evangelism.  Acts 14:21-27; Eph. 4:1-16
